Moss Vale Australian Stock Horse Youth Camp was held at Bundanoon Pony Club grounds on the 16th – 19th of January 2010.
It was another great camp, all my mates were there again and the grounds were big enough for everyone to ride on. With two sand arenas it made it easy to do exercises, like haunch turns, rollbacks, and flying changes. I was proud I was able to achieve this, with my young horse and the endless help of David and Sue Wilson.
We even had special guests turn up demonstrating things, like The Light Horse Brigade. Can’t believe 166,000 horses went to war and only one came home. They made a statue of the horse and rider. We were lucky to have Greg Powell demonstrate with his horses and songs. A horse Dentist also took my horse’s wolf teeth out.
We had good weather except for the cold day of cattle. This was the best. The cattle were so good for us. We got to work one beast with a mate, then have a couple of turns on our own. The fun bit was when we had to follow the beast around the arena and finish in between cones on time. Everyone was cheering each other on. It was great fun. Wish we could have had two days of cattle.
To Paula the food was awesome and THANKS to everyone for holding the camp.
From Troy Vale and
Congratulations!!

STOCK HORSE CAMP
The four days I spent at the stock horse
camp was filled with learning curves for me and my horse.
On the first day I got the pleasure of
doing some junior judging, I was in the under 13 and got to judge four
magnificent horses. We then mounted our horses which we had just saddled, we
then did some circles at a walk, trot and canter for some. I did not canter as I
was unsure but now a few days later I’m cantering perfectly.
The second day was just as fun as the first
as we got to do polocrosse I played all positions except one which was one.
The third was a great for my riding; I did
my first work out on Zigzag at a canter, and I have been confident at cantering
Zigzag anywhere.
The fourth and
definitely the best day was this day. We had the experience of cutting cattle. I
was I bit nervous at first but soon got over it as the feeling of fun soon took
over. I got three turns two by myself and one with a partner. Both were fun.
